The city of Jeddah is one of the governorates of the Makkah region. The city is located in the west of the Kingdom on the coasts of the Red Sea. The city is called the Bride of the Red Sea. The capital, Riyadh, is located approximately 950 km from Jeddah. The city of Jeddah is the economic and tourist capital of the Kingdom, as a large number of tourists come to it annually, whether from inside or outside the Kingdom.
Jeddah is also the second largest city in the Kingdom after the capital, Riyadh. Jeddah also contains the largest seaport on the Red Sea. Jeddah has great tourist importance in the Kingdom, as the city contains important and advanced tourist facilities such as hotels, hotel apartments, restaurants, entertainment and shopping centers. This is in addition to the beaches and museums in the city.
Jeddah is also distinguished by the charming Corniche located along the city for a distance of 48 km, where it enjoys stunning landscapes and the latest facilities and services, including some beautiful attractions such as the impressive King Fahd Fountain, which rises about 312 meters above sea level.
Jeddah is a historical city and contains many historical tourist places in the old part of the city such as the Jeddah wall and its old gates, the cemetery of Umna Hawa, Khuzam Palace, Nassif House, Abraq Al-Raghamah, Sheikh Al-Assad cemetery, Ain Al-Aziziya, and Wadi Buriman.
Among the most prominent landmarks of Jeddah are the mosques, as they contain many old mosques such as the historical Imam Al-Shafi’i Mosque, which was built in the seventeenth century AD, and among the modern mosques in the city is the Al-Rahma Mosque, which was built in 1985 AD.
King Fahd International Airport is located in the city of Jeddah. The city also contains a modern electric train called the Al-Haramain Express train, which connects Jeddah with Makkah and Madinah, so as to provide an ideal service for pilgrims and Umrah pilgrims.
